Portable Radiant Heater –
Rosy Glow Operating Instructions

Please ensure you have read and understood these instructions fully, before attempting to operate this equipment. Heating bulbs & heater body support legs are fitted prior to delivery when the heater is for Rental or Hire.

Safety, General & Electrical

  • Never place any objects on top of this portable heater. Only use the heater for the purpose it was designed for
  • Check the condition of the radiant heater before use. Never obstruct any air vents that may be present on the heater
  • Do not operate this heater unit in wet or damp conditions. Do not attempt to touch elements whilst in use
  • Use only in the upright position. Do not use in close proximity of consumable materials
  • Never use around highly flammable vapours (e.g. petrol)
  • Site the unit on firm level ground a minimum of 2 metres from people
  • Always switch OFF and unplug the unit when not in use
  • These models require a 50Hz single phase supply of either 110v or 230v. Please refer to data plate for electrical specification and rating. All units have a nominal output of 1500 watts per element. The current ratings are as follows:

POWER CONSUMPTIONS ARE AS PER POWER OUTPUT ABOVE

  • All electrical installation must comply with current regulations. This appliance must be earthed
  • 230v models come fitted with a standard 230v, 13A, 3-pin plug. 110v models come fitted with a standard 110v, 32A plug.
  • If a transformer is used to provide 110v from the mains, then it needs to be at least 3kVA and continuously rated. Wherever possible, an RCD (residual current-operated devise) should be employed to provide additional safety.
  • Check condition of mains lead and plug before use

DO NOT PERFORM FLASH TESTS AS THIS WILL REDUCE BULB LIFE

If for any reason the factory fitted 230v 13A moulded plug is damaged and requires replacement, ensure that if the mains lead is cut to remove the old plug that it is disposed of IMMEDIATELY to reduce the risk of potential electric shock.

The wires in the mains lead are coloured and must be connected as shown in the table below by a suitable qualified electrician or competent person.
(*) WHEN FITTING A NEW 230V PLUG ENSURE THAT THE CORRECT VALUE FUSE IS USED AS INDICATED ON THE DATAPLATE. ONLY USE FUSES THAT ARE ASTA APPROVED TO BS1362

  • Extension leads must be fully unwound and at least 2.5mm sq. cable (up to 3m) and at least 4mm sq. cable for any greater lengths.
  • Do not attempt any maintenance whilst the unit is connected to the electrical supply
  • Ensure mains cable is not in the ‘beam’ of heat or makes contact with hot surfaces
  • THESE MODELS ARE DESIGNED FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY. DO NOT USE EXTERNALLY

Never remove any panels / covers whilst the unit is connected to electrical supply. If problems are experienced, then contact London Cool on 0800 440 444, if the problem cannot be easily & safely rectified. Maintenance should only be attempted by competent personnel in accordance with the instructions or supplier guidelines.

Set Up & Operation of your portable radiant heater

  • Connect to a suitable electrical supply
  • Switch on heater bulbs using the ‘rocker’ switches mounted on the side panel (above the carry handle)
  • Each switch operates independently of the other, allowing the user to choose either full heat (both elements ON) or half heat (either element ON)

Please note that the heater element tubes reach full operating output temperature in under a second. It is important when switching the unit OFF to allow 10 minutes to cool down before moving the unit.
Once the heater unit has cooled disconnect from the electrical supply. It is now safe to move the unit.

Failure to observe these instructions could result in damage to the bulbs.
